Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA privacy regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of client living spaces through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer devices to ensure safe patient handling and mobility assistance
- Provide companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive environment that encourages social interaction and engagement
- Follow detailed care plans created by healthcare professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality care
- Participate in ongoing training related to CPR, first aid, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, hospice care, autism support, and other specialized areas of patient care
- Collaborate with healthcare teams including nurses, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive patient support
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital signs monitoring
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or dementia care are advantageous
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Alzheimer’s disease, or dementia is a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using proper techniques or equipment such as Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow detailed care instructions accurately
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve clients’ quality of life
