About the Role:
The Summer Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our durable goods manufacturing facility in Chicago. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in various aspects of operations management, including production planning, inventory control, and quality assurance. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals to analyze operational processes and identify areas for improvement. By the end of the internship, the candidate will have gained valuable insights into the manufacturing industry and developed practical skills that are essential for a successful career in operations. Ultimately, the goal is to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of our operations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous internship or work experience in a manufacturing or operations environment.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and practices.
- Basic knowledge of ERP systems and their application in manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring production schedules and ensuring timely completion of manufacturing tasks.
- Support inventory management by tracking stock levels and assisting with inventory audits.
- Participate in quality control processes by conducting inspections and documenting findings.
- Collaborate with team members to identify process inefficiencies and propose solutions.
- Prepare reports and presentations on operational performance metrics for management review.
Skills:
The required analytical skills will be utilized daily to assess production data and identify trends that impact operational efficiency. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel will enable the intern to create detailed reports and perform data analysis, which is essential for informed decision-making.
