The role requires strong technical expertise in metrology, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze, document, and improve calibration procedures to support product quality and regulatory compliance across the organization.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs necessary calibrations as set by standard procedures and work instructions while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, quality, and performs minor instrument repair as needed.
- Establishes and maintains calibration schedules by referencing historical information, conditions of use, and applications to determine intervals. Also maintains the calibration database with responsibility for data entry, records maintenance, reporting, coordination of system backups, and data security.
- Determines calibration specifications, intervals, and work instructions for new and existing measurements and test equipment.
- Coordinate the calibration of measurement and test and equipment that falls outside of A-dec’s capabilities with Purchasing and external vendors.
- Maintains an understanding of ISO requirements as they pertain to the control of inspection, measuring, and test equipment, and is responsible for creation and maintenance of calibration work instructions and procedures.
- Remains current with technology related to calibration needs and may provide calibration training to supervisors, unit specialists, and machine operators.
- Supports test and process fixture calibrations, improvements, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Associate's degree in a technical field and/or Calibration certification (Calibration Technician Certification from ASQ or equivalent) is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience as a calibration technician or in a similar field along with knowledge of basic metrology
- 5 years of experience in the use of measurement and test equipment or equivalent training.
- Ability to perform calibrations with the guidance of work instructions while maintaining quality, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Gauge R&R, Measurement Systems Analysis, and quality systems.
- Understanding of ISO requirements and ability to effectively utilize databases and office software, including statistical analysis tools. Working knowledge of ISO 17025 is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to present complex information clearly and to develop effective procedures, records and reports.
