Job Summary
The Childcare Director oversees the daily operations of a licensed childcare center, ensuring compliance with North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (NC DCDEE) regulations. The Director leads staff, maintains a safe and nurturing environment for children, and fosters strong relationships with families and the community.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Administration
- Ensure the center complies with all NC DCDEE licensing requirements and sanitation/health regulations.
- Maintain required documentation for children and staff (attendance, immunizations, background checks, training hours, etc.).
- Develop and implement educational programs based on NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development.
- Maintain center’s star rating through regular assessments and compliance.
- Manage the center’s budget, including tuition collection, staff payroll coordination, and purchasing supplies.
Staff Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise qualified staff.
- Conduct staff evaluations and professional development planning.
- Ensure staff meet state-mandated training hours and qualifications.
- Lead regular staff meetings and team-building initiatives.
Family & Community Engagement
- Foster positive relationships with children and families.
- Conduct tours and enroll new families.
- Address parent concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote the center in the local community and maintain partnerships with relevant agencies.
Health & Safety
- Oversee implementation of health, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Ensure proper nutrition and food service compliance with NC Child Care Rules.
- Respond to and report incidents per NC DCDEE guidelines.
Qualifications Required
- Must meet NC DCDEE requirements for Childcare Administrator. (EDU 261 and 262)
- At least 2 years of experience in early childhood education, with 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
- NC Background Check Qualification Letter.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Familiarity with NC’s Environmental Rating Scales (ERS) and CLASS assessments.
- Experience managing budgets and center finances.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
