Overview
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented, fast-typing, and focused professional to join our healthcare team primarily as an In-Room Medical Scribe. In this role, your main priority will be acting as the physician's right hand during patient encounters, ensuring highly accurate, real-time medical documentation.
While this position is heavily focused on medical scribing, you will also play a key collaborative role in supporting the clinic by performing essential medical assistant tasks (like vitals and injections) and managing patient referrals.
Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to help you succeed in this role.
Work Schedule & Locations
This position requires traveling between our two clinic locations on a fixed weekly schedule:
- Cave Springs Clinic: Tuesdays and Thursdays (7:00am – 5:00pm)
- Springdale Clinic: Mondays and Wednesdays (7:00am – 5:00pm) | Fridays (8:00am – 12:00pm)
Key Responsibilities
Primary Scribing Duties (Core Focus)
- In-Room Real-Time Scribing: Accompany the physician into patient exam rooms to accurately document clinical encounters, medical histories, physical exams, and treatment plans in real time within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Active Listening & Synthesis: Listen intently to the patient-provider interaction, capturing the nuances of the chief complaint and the physician’s medical decision-making process.
- Documentation Management: Maintain thorough, comprehensive, and clear electronic medical records with a high degree of technical and grammatical accuracy.
Clinical & Referral Support
- Patient Intake & Vitals: Conduct initial patient intake interviews and accurately record medical histories and standard vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse).
- Injections & Clinical Tasks: Administer medications and give injections/shots exactly as directed by the physician, including precise dosage calculations.
- Referral Coordination: Coordinate and process patient referrals to specialists accurately and efficiently.
- Team Collaboration: Assist the physician with minor medical procedures, ensure patient comfort, and cross-train to support basic team workflows when necessary.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous background or formal training as a Medical Scribe is highly preferred.
- Core Scribe Competencies: Exceptional active listening and verbal communication skills. Quick and accurate typing speed (crucial for keeping pace with real-time charting). Strong, foundational knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and EHR systems.
- Clinical Skills: Familiarity or experience with injection administration, taking vitals, and navigating medical referral processes.
- Attributes: High attention to detail, strong multitasking abilities, and an empathetic approach to patient care.
- Certifications: Familiarity with basic life support (BLS) techniques is preferred.
