Location: Glen Burnie, Maryland
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Starting Pay: $18.00 per hour

About the Position

A Better Way Computer Recycling is a certified IT Asset Disposition company seeking a dependable and motivated person to join our computer refurbishment and resale team.

This is a hands-on position performed in a warehouse environment. The primary responsibility is preparing used computers, laptops, and other electronic equipment for resale. Employees inspect, inventory, clean, test, document, photograph, and create complete online listings for equipment that may be reused.

Previous professional computer repair experience is not required. We will provide training. However, applicants should have a genuine interest in computers, electronics, technology, and learning how different types of equipment work.

Reliability is extremely important. We are a small business, and every employee plays an important role in keeping our operation running efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities

• Inspect, identify, and inventory laptops, desktop computers, components, and other electronic equipment
• Clean and prepare equipment for testing and resale
• Test computers, laptops, hard drives, memory, and other components
• Identify basic hardware problems and determine whether equipment can be repaired or reused
• Accurately record serial numbers, specifications, test results, cosmetic condition, and other product information
• Photograph products and create complete, accurate online sales listings
• Research unfamiliar equipment to determine specifications, uses, and potential resale value
• Organize completed inventory and maintain accurate product locations
• Sort through mixed electronic equipment to identify items with potential reuse or resale applications
• Assist with packing, unpacking, shipping, receiving, and general warehouse inventory
• Help load and unload trucks when necessary
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Assist with other warehouse or inventory-related duties as needed

Helpful but Not Required

• Personal experience building, repairing, upgrading, or troubleshooting computers
• Familiarity with Windows computers, computer components, BIOS settings, or hardware diagnostics
• Experience selling products online
• Experience taking product photographs or writing product descriptions
• Warehouse, shipping, receiving, inventory, or electronics recycling experience

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work at floor, waist, and shoulder height throughout the day
• Ability to repeatedly handle computers, laptops, boxes, and electronic equipment
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently
• Heavier equipment is moved using team lifts or available material-handling equipment
• Ability to work in a warehouse that may be warmer or colder depending on the season
• Ability to safely perform loading, unloading, inventory, and material-handling duties
