Job Overview
A-Best Roofing is seeking an experienced Architectural Sheet Metal Craftsman / Coppersmith to join our team. We fabricate custom roofing components, architectural sheet metal products, and decorative metalwork for residential, commercial, and historic restoration projects throughout Oklahoma.
This is not a production-line position. We are looking for a craftsman who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys building custom products from raw materials. Projects range from standard roofing flashings to custom copper chimney caps, finials, decorative architectural pieces, and historic restoration components.
We utilize modern computerized sheet metal fabrication equipment. Experience with computerized brakes is helpful, but we are willing to train qualified candidates on our specific equipment and processes.
Responsibilities
Fabricate Custom Roofing Components Including:
- Flashings
- Drip edge
- Valley metal
- Counter flashing
- Coping caps
- Chimney caps
- Scuppers
- Gutters and downspouts
- Custom roofing accessories
Fabricate Architectural & Decorative Metal Products Including:
- Copper finials
- Decorative ridge caps
- Dormer accents
- Cupolas
- Historic reproduction components
- Custom architectural metalwork
Additional Responsibilities
- Read and interpret shop drawings, sketches, and field measurements.
- Operate sheet metal fabrication equipment including brakes, shears, rollers, and related machinery.
- Solder and assemble copper components when required.
- Maintain high standards of craftsmanship, accuracy, and quality control.
- Coordinate with project managers and roofing crews to ensure timely completion of fabricated products.
- Assist in developing fabrication methods for custom and one-of-a-kind projects.
Qualifications
Required
- 3 years of sheet metal fabrication experience.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to read measurements and fabricate components accurately.
- Ability to work independently and solve fabrication challenges.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Experience with architectural sheet metal fabrication.
- Experience working with copper, galvanized steel, and painted metals.
- Copper soldering experience.
- Roofing industry experience.
- Historic restoration experience.
- Experience with CNC or computerized fabrication equipment.
Must Be Able To
- Fabricate roofing flashings and custom metal components from measurements or drawings.
- Operate brakes, shears, rollers, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Work with copper, galvanized steel, and painted sheet metal.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Produce quality work with minimal supervision.
- Learn and operate our computerized sheet metal fabrication equipment.
Training Provided

Pay
$25–$45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Exceptional candidates with extensive architectural sheet metal or coppersmith experience may qualify for higher compensation.
