Medical Facility Housekeeper
Job Summary:The Medical Facility Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role is critical in preventing the spread of infections and ensuring compliance with healthcare sanitation standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms, exam rooms, surgical areas, offices, and common areas
- Follow strict infection control protocols, including proper use of disinfectants and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, bed rails, and medical equipment surfaces
- Safely handle and dispose of medical waste, biohazard materials, and sharps in accordance with regulations
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer in all designated areas
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners
- Respond promptly to spills, contamination events, or emergency cleaning situations
- Follow established procedures for isolation rooms and areas requiring specialized cleaning
- Maintain cleaning logs and documentation as required by facility policies
- Adhere to OSHA, CDC, and facility-specific safety and sanitation guidelines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper dilution, and safe handling procedures
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and infection control protocols
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25–50 pounds as needed
