Mental Health Security (Behavioral Health) - Saturday & Sunday PM Shift (1pm - 9pm)

A & A Health Services San Pablo provides transitional housing and resident centered care services for clients suffering from mental health, addiction, and/or dual diagnosis. The ideal candidate wants to help break the cycle of clients moving from crisis centers to housing instability and back to crisis centers.

A & A Health Services San Pablo is seeking an experienced Security Guard to support safety in our adult residential community for behavioral health clients. This role is hands-off and people-focused, requiring strong verbal de-escalation skills, situational awareness, and experience supporting individuals experiencing mental illness.

This position is not event security, property patrol, or access control. The ideal candidate has worked in a behavioral health, hospital, psychiatric, or adult residential setting and understands how to maintain safety through calm presence, communication, and crisis intervention.

Availability: This is a Part-time position. The ideal candidate is looking for Part-time work and is available to work Saturday & Sunday for the PM shift 1pm - 9pm.

Position Description:

Protecting people, property, and assets. Duties and responsibilities include guarding, foot patrolling, monitoring premises to prevent theft, negative behaviors and answering phones, while remaining alert and vigilant while on duty. Reports to Community’s Executive Director.

• Respond to security-related complaints and ensure proper documentation is completed as required.
• Respond to Emergency calls including medical, fire and damage to property.
• Maintain and submit Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports, Accident Reports, Hazard Reports, and Condition Reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements:

• Must have compassion for and desire to work in a mental health environment.
• California Security Guard License.
• Appropriate Bureau of Security and Investigative Services certificate from the California Department of Consumer Affairs.
• Preferred certification of a minimum of 40 hours of training in de-escalation in facilities like our communities.
• Must be able to pass a DOJ criminal background check and other Certifications as required by the State.
• Must meet all health requirements, including TB.
• Minimum of 2 years of Security Experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate verbally in person and over the phone and read, analyze, interpret, and complete documentation in fluent English.
• Positive interpersonal skills, treating other employees and our behavioral health residents, professionally and respectfully and in a pleasant, professional, and personal manner.
• Able to perform well under pressure, resolve conflicts, prioritize tasks, follow through with ideas, and show initiative in overcoming obstacles.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and make sound and timely decisions.
• Excellent detail-oriented organizational skills, with regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
