The Outside Sales Representative will sell, and service manufactured components, including fabricated roof and floor trusses, pre-cut framing systems, and associated building products and services.
Essential duties
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing customers (Builders & Framers) in the light frame construction industry
- Develop plans, implement strategies, and generate leads to expand the customer base in the assigned market/region
- Generate sale opportunities through research on client needs and industry competition
- Effectively demonstrate the features and benefits of company products and services
- Effectively plan and conduct sales presentations for current and prospective customers of A-1 products and services
- Effectively listen to the concerns of customers and address their needs
- Identify and locate new clients through a variety of methods, including networking and cold calling
- Responsible for the development and performance of all sales related activities in assigned market
- Provide information, quotes, credit terms, and other bid specifications to customers
- Answer and clarify inquiries from customers regarding products and the industry at large
- Focus on sales which meet the company’s profitability and growth goals
- Collaborate with VP of Sales and other department staff, to confirm that jobs are processed with accuracy, efficiency, and that products are distributed properly
- Periodically prepare and report results, status of accounts, and leads to VP of Sales
- Meet sales quota(s) and goal(s)
- Attend and participate in all company-sponsored training programs, as required
- Trouble shoot field issues, which may be complex in nature
- Proactively recommend adjustments to current product lines to ensure that pricing remains competitive in the local market
- Performs other duties as assigned
- No Supervisory responsibilities
Required Skills, Education, Competencies, and Personal Attributes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills
- Thorough understanding of construction industry and products to be sold
- Bachelor’s degree in business or construction related field preferred or construction sales/industry experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Organized with attention to detail
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Work Environment:
Time is spent primarily sitting/standing/walking in a climate-controlled office environment or shared office space. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
Travel Requirements:
Travel to meet with clients or potential clients will be required on occasion

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
