A-1 Electrical Contractors, Inc. is expanding its team and is seeking experienced commercial electricians for new commercial construction and large-scale commercial projects. This position works commercial jobsites throughout the greater Baton Rouge area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Electrical Installations: Install panels, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, conduit, and wiring for high and low voltage systems, working from blueprints, schematics, and specifications and in compliance with the National Electrical Code and local codes.
• New Commercial Construction: Perform rough-in and finish work on new commercial construction and large-scale commercial projects, coordinating with other trades to keep work on schedule.
• Maintenance, Repairs, and Upgrades: Maintain, repair, and upgrade electrical systems; diagnose outages, faulty circuits, and malfunctioning equipment and apply appropriate solutions.
• Testing and Inspection: Conduct tests and inspections using specialized tools and equipment to measure voltage, current, and resistance and to verify performance and code compliance.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company, OSHA, and site-specific safety guidelines to prevent electrical hazards and protect personnel and property. Wear PPE, including a respirator, when required.
• Jobsite Coordination: Work effectively with foremen, project managers, general contractors, and other trades; clearly explain electrical issues and project status; prioritize across multiple work fronts to meet schedule; and stay current with electrical technologies and safety practices. Perform other duties as required or assigned by leadership.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous experience as an electrician in the construction industry, including large-scale commercial projects.
• High school diploma or equivalent; OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Electrician licensing as required by the State of Louisiana and local jurisdictions, with proficiency in the National Electrical Code, local codes, and the ability to read blueprints.
• Must be able to comply with a criminal background check and drug test.
POSITION AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Extended hours that vary by job and site, with weekend work as business needs require. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
• Must be able to accurately and reliably identify color-coded conductors and wiring, and to read blueprints and schematics.
• Prolonged standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding throughout the shift, and pulling wires and cables through conduits, in all weather conditions and extreme temperatures with possible exposure to dust and fumes. Candidates must pass a fit-for-duty evaluation that includes a 75 lb. lifting standard.
