Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Director of Operations based in Farmingdale, NY. The Director of Operations will oversee day-to-day operational activities, manage budgets, lead and develop teams, ensure customer satisfaction, and identify opportunities for process improvement. The role involves fostering a high-performing work environment while maintaining efficient operations and client relationships.
Core Responsibilities
- Service Excellence & Quality Control: Implement standardized cleaning protocols and conduct regular site audits to ensure compliance with client Scope of Work.
- Workforce Logistics: Manage complex scheduling and staffing for multiple shifts, and buildings including emergency/on-call response and labor budget adherence.
- Project Crew Management: Manage project team scheduling, oversight of KPI for the team.
- Financial & P&L Management: Oversee operational budgets, including labor costs, chemical/consumable usage, and equipment maintenance, to maximize profit margins.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA safety standards, including proper chemical handling (SDS) and PPE usage.
- Client Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for high-level client concerns, performing needs assessments and ensuring high customer satisfaction scores.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
To track success, this role typically monitors:
- Quality Audit Scores: Measuring cleanliness levels against established standards.
- Labor Efficiency: Revenue per labor hour and actual vs. budgeted hours.
- Client Retention Rate: Tracking the longevity of service contracts.
- Safety Incident Rate: Number of work-related injuries or "near misses" per month.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 8-10 years in operations management, ideally within the janitorial or facilities services industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Team software, excel, google docs.
- Certifications: Industry-specific certifications such as ISSA or CIMS highly preferred.
