• Operate self-propelled custom class harvesting machines to chop corn, grass, or other forage crops. • Monitor machine performance and crop quality during operation and report any issues to supervisor. • Perform daily maintenance checks, including greasing, blade sharpening, and clearing blockages. • Adjust speed of cutters, blowers, conveyors, and height of cutting head. Change cutting head as appropriate for crops. • Keep interior and exterior of all equipment clean. • Operate tractors with heavy silage blades to pack chopped silage in bunkers or piles. • Drive heavy trucks to transport crops between the field and storage site. • Load and unload chopped forage efficiently and safely. • Driver transporter truck to haul harvesting equipment between work locations. • Comply with all road and farm safety protocols. • Assist in repairs and adjustments in the field and shop as needed. • Run for parts, fuel, or supplies as needed. • Be available to assist in other farm or shop duties during downtime or poor weather. • Assist with other harvest or farm duties as needed. • Prepare fields by tilling, planting, fertilizing, and irrigating crops. • Operate or assist with operation of farm equipment such as tractors, harvesters, loaders, and heavy trucks. • Repair and maintain fences, irrigation lines, and general farm facilities. • Assist in the cleaning, maintenance, and organization of work areas and equipment. • Perform other related farm duties as assigned by the supervisor. Workers who possess a valid driver’s license and meet all applicable legal requirements, including holding a doctor’s certificate as required by 29 CFR § 500.105, may be asked to drive vehicles for transporting workers, goods, or commodities on company business. This task is voluntary, compensable, and not a mandatory job duty. Workers without a valid driver’s license or doctor’s certificate will still be fully eligible for employment and are not disqualified from any other job responsibilities outlined in this application.
