The Medical Assistant performs those direct care activities which are allowed to be delegated to unlicensed personnel under the New York State Education law Section 6530 (11), regulations, hospital policies and standards met by Nursing Services. Qualifications & Job Requirements Education / Skills Required: • Must be high school graduate or equivalent work experience, including ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology. • Graduate from a Medical Assistant Program preferred • 3 months experience in an physician office practice setting preferred • Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills to interact with patients, patient’s families, staff and management. • Mus maintain professional appearance and personal conduct at all times • Must be highly motivated, able to work outside the normal working hours as volume demands. • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. • As applicable, the individual has training, competency in attending to the special needs and/or behavior appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being given. • Must possess the ability to collaborate with other health personnel. • Must have strong organizational skills. • Comprehension of medical terminology • Holds certification for Basic Life Support or willing to perform within first month of hire Elizabethtown Community Hospital (ECH) is part of The University of Vermont Health Network, a six-hospital network serving patients and their families in northern New York and Vermont.
