We are seeking a Customer Service Representative to provide excellent customer service care to 90 Degree Benefits clients and customers related to medical, flex, dental, vision, and ancillary benefit inquiries. The Customer Service Representative will answer claim questions, benefit questions, and provide processing explanations via telephone, email, and correspondence for both providers (doctors and hospitals) and members.

The ideal candidate for this position enjoys phone interaction and solving problems. To be successful in this role you will need to be a good listener, empathetic, organized and courteous.

Essential Functions:

  • Respond to and provide a high level of consumer education to members and customers regarding inquiries on eligibility, benefits and claim status with a high level of accuracy
  • Maintain established service levels with respect to occupancy/ availability time, first call resolution, and production on a consistent basis, without sacrificing quality
  • Educate consumers and providers on the use of electronic portal solutions and websites for direct access to benefit questions, claim status, etc
  • Make outbound calls on the member’s behalf to various Providers or other entities in order to help coordinate care or resolve claim/ benefit questions
  • Utilizes appropriate tools and resources to answer and document all customer inquiries
  • Escalates more advance problems or inquiries to team lead or manager, as appropriate
  • Identifies and makes recommendations on process improvement opportunities
  • Works and supports the team environment in order to meet both individual and team objectives
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 -2 years’ experience in the health care field, preferably in call center setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Physical Requirements:

While performing this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/ or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The work is primarily in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
