POSITION OVERVIEW
The Vice President of IT Infrastructure is responsible for the strategy, reliability, security, and day-to-day operational effectiveness of the organization’s core technology infrastructure. This role combines executive leadership with hands-on technical depth, particularly in network engineering and infrastructure operations, and ensures that foundational technology services are resilient, secure, and aligned with organizational priorities.
The VP of IT Infrastructure serves as a senior technology leader and trusted partner to the CIO and executive leadership, setting direction while remaining close enough to the technology to guide design decisions, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor technical teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead the Infrastructure and Operations organization to ensure technology services align with organizational goals and key performance indicators
- Define and execute the enterprise IT infrastructure strategy across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments
- Maintain hands-on technical understanding of the infrastructure environment, with particular depth in network engineering and network operations
- Oversee network architecture, engineering, and operations, including LAN, WAN, wireless, internet connectivity, and voice services
- Assess infrastructure across people, process, and technology to identify bottlenecks and implement improvements that ensure reliable and scalable operations
- Partner closely with Information Security to deliver information security and IT risk initiatives, including compliance with patching, vulnerability management, and hardening standards
- Manage third-party vendors and managed service providers, holding them accountable for delivery of outsourced services, including Network Operations
- Design, implement, and regularly test a robust Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity strategy for critical systems and infrastructure
- Identify single points of failure across infrastructure platforms and recommend and implement mitigation strategies
- Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and administration of enterprise systems, including networks, servers, storage, virtualization platforms, applications, databases, end-user devices, and mobile technologies
- Ensure service levels, availability, and performance meet organizational objectives and user expectations
- Design, implement, deploy, and manage infrastructure and application monitoring tools and processes to proactively identify and resolve issues
- Establish standardized operational processes and key performance metrics aligned with ITIL best practices, including availability, performance, incident and problem management, asset lifecycle management, and licensing
- Lead incident, problem, and change management processes, including hands-on engagement during major outages or escalations
- Manage infrastructure budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing infrastructure, operations, and network engineering teams
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIREMENT
- Experience with enterprise networking platforms (Cisco, Aruba, or similar)
- 10 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, operations, or engineering, including senior leadership roles
- Strong hands-on background in enterprise infrastructure and network engineering environments
- Proven experience leading complex infrastructure operations while remaining technically engaged
- Demonstrated success delivering infrastructure modernization, reliability, or transformation initiatives
- Experience managing vendors, managed services, and complex technology contracts
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience operating hybrid infrastructure environments, including cloud platforms (AWS, and Azure)
- Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (ITIL or similar)
- Experience in highly regulated, complex, or mission-driven organizations
- Relevant technical or architectural certifications
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT
- Participates in the Annual 5K Fundraiser and September 11th Commemoration, as assigned.
- Assists with other special projects and events in support of all 9/11 Memorial and Museum, as assigned.
