Senior AV Design Engineer

Position Summary

8K Solutions is looking for a Senior AV Systems Design Engineer who thrives in a collaborative, detail-driven environment. This role is ideal for someone who brings relevant experience in D-Tools SI and Visio or similar design software (CAD, Revu/Bluebeam, etc.) and is passionate about designing video camera -centric AV systems that perform reliably in live event production, training rooms and sports stadium settings.

Core Responsibilities

• Leveraging D-tools software to design & documentation integrated video systems, primarily PTZ camera systems for live sports applications.

• Develop AV system designs using Visio or CAD, within the D-Tools SI software suite aligned with 8K standards

• Produce signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, cable schedules, and BOMs

• Maintain version-controlled documentation for internal and client use

• Post-Sales Engineering Support

• Refine scopes of work and system specifications after project handoff

• Support field teams with design clarifications and technical adjustments

• Participate in client walkthroughs and post-install reviews

• Engineer systems featuring video walls, projection, conferencing, and streaming

• Specify and integrate video switchers, scalers, codecs, and control interfaces

• Ensure signal integrity and compatibility across diverse environments

• Uphold and evolve internal design standards and workflows

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment

• Contribute to our knowledge base and documentation library

Required Qualifications

• 6 years of AV system design experience, with a strong emphasis on video

• Proficiency in D-Tools SI and Microsoft Visio, and/or CAD, Bluebeam/Revo, and various MS office applications.

• Familiarity with live event and broadcast production workflows

• Strong grasp of AV networking principles and signal routing

• Excellent communication and documentation skills

Preferred Skills

• CTS-D or equivalent certification

• Familiarity with control systems (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS)

• Understanding of video-over-IP and streaming protocols
