Job Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the club’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives
- Collaborate with leadership to set financial goals and assess performance against them
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and operational improvements
- Assess and onboard systems and vendors for start-up phase of the club
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP
- Develop and maintain an effective internal control system to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Lead the annual budgeting process and provide regular variance analyses
- Manage the club’s cash flow and banking relationships
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the club’s financial performance, including cost controls and revenue enhancement initiatives
- Monitor and manage financial risks, including insurance and compliance with legal and tax regulations
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
- Work collaboratively with department heads to establish and maintain sound financial practices throughout the club
- Present financial results and forecasts to the Board of Directors and key committees (e.g., Finance, Audit)
- Serve as a trusted advisor to members, addressing financial inquiries and supporting capital improvement initiatives
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA/CPA preferred).
- CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred
- 8 years of experience in accounting or financial leadership roles, with at least 3 years in the private club, hospitality, or luxury service industry
- Proven track record in managing financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
- Expertise in GAAP, tax compliance, and financial reporting requirements
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in club-specific systems (e.g., Jonas, Clubessential) a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with members, staff, and board members
