Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Richmond, KY, for a News Director at 88.9 WEKU. The News Director will lead the newsroom in overseeing editorial content creation and production for radio, web, and other digital platforms. Responsibilities include managing a team of journalists, setting editorial priorities, upholding journalistic standards, developing stories, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality programming. The News Director will also foster partnerships, oversee newsroom operations, and engage with the listening community.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Broadcasting and Radio operations
- Skills and experience in Writing and Broadcast Journalism
- Familiarity with Radio production
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and collaborative abilities
- Knowledge of NPR programming and public radio practices is a plus
- Experience in regional or community journalism is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field required
