Hotel Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Job Description
Position Summary
The Hotel AGM supports the General Manager in overseeing daily hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and driving team performance. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple departments with finesse.
Key Responsibilities
· Operational Oversight
o Supervise front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance departments
o Ensure smooth daily operations and resolve any service disruptions
o Conduct regular property inspections to maintain brand standards
· Team Leadership
o Recruit, train, and mentor department heads and staff
o Foster a positive work culture focused on service excellence
o Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development
· Guest Experience
o Address guest concerns promptly and professionally
o Monitor feedback from surveys and online reviews to improve service
o Champion initiatives that enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty
· Financial & Administrative Support
o Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
o Review financial reports and suggest operational improvements
o Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with policies
· Sales & Marketing Collaboration
o Support sales efforts and participate in client acquisition
o Promote the hotel within the local community and industry events
o Contribute to marketing strategies and brand positioning
· Crisis & Risk Management
o Respond to emergencies and ensure guest/staff safety
o Enforce health, safety, and legal compliance across departments
Qualifications
· 5–10 years of hospitality experience, including 3 years in a leadership role
· Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
· Proficiency in hotel management systems (e.g., OPERA, PMS)
· Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Reporting Structure & Work Environment
· Reports directly to the General Manager
· Collaborates with department heads and ownership groups
· May be required to cover shifts or lead meetings in GM’s absence
