The Tax Accountant is responsible for filing and depositing all federal and state payroll taxes and sales taxes. They also use tax filings for various states, census reports for various federal and state agencies and business license renewals. The incumbent works with the tax supervisor and bank setting up new EFT payment accounts and approves EFT payments for various tax deposit requirements. This position also ensures new tax rates are conveyed to Payroll so that the proper local payroll taxes are set up for associates, analyses various tax accounts and assists with sales and us3e tax audits, and files all state-corporate annual reports for all related entities associated with 84 Lumber Company.
Responsibilities
- Completes weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual report filings and deposits for all payroll taxes
- Files various state sales and use tax returns for assigned states
- Assists with correspondence associated with tax issues for assigned states. Annual license renewals and new licenses as required. Apply for new EFT filings and payments as require by taxing jurisdictions.
- Work with new accounts that need set-up for EFT payments
- Complete annual reports
- Answers associates questions regarding sales tax rates
- Assists sales department on sales tax related issues
- Assists with sales and use tax audits, as needed
- Assists tax supervisor on daily bases
Qualifications
The minimum requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or at least 2 years of specific experience and/or training related to the essential functions of the job; or equivalent combination of education and training.
