Job Summary: Provides strategic leadership for 7 17 Credit Union's community engagement, financial wellness, and outreach initiatives. This position is responsible for developing and executing programs that strengthen the credit union's presence throughout the communities it serves while improving the financial well-being of members and non-members.

 

Leads a team of Community Outreach and Financial Wellness Coordinators, establishes measurable goals, manages departmental budgets, and develops partnerships with employers, schools, nonprofit organizations, municipalities, labor organizations, and community leaders. This leader ensures all community engagement activities align with the credit union's strategic plan and drive measurable membership, lending, deposit, and brand growth.

All job positions at 7 17 Credit Union may be assigned further duties with or without notice, verbally or in writing.  Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. 

Primary Duties:

1. Strategic Responsibilities

The Director will develop, implement, and evaluate the annual Community Outreach and Financial Wellness Strategic Plan to advance 7 17 Credit Union's mission, strengthen community relationships, and support organizational growth. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive community outreach strategy that aligns with the credit union's strategic plan and annual business objectives.
  • Lead the organization's financial wellness strategy by designing programs that improve financial capability, increase member engagement, and promote long-term financial success.
  • Establish annual goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and measurable outcomes for all community outreach and financial wellness initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee youth financial education programs in partnership with schools, colleges, and community organizations.
  • Lead the credit union's Homeownership and Mortgage Readiness initiatives to expand access to affordable homeownership opportunities through education, coaching, and community partnerships.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive community sponsorship and investment strategy that maximizes brand awareness, community impact, and return on investment.
  • Oversee employee volunteer and community engagement initiatives that encourage staff participation and strengthen the credit union's community presence.
  • Develop and manage the annual calendar of community events, financial education workshops, volunteer activities, and outreach campaigns.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, employers, government agencies, chambers of commerce, labor organizations, and community leaders.
  • Identify emerging community needs and recommend innovative programs and partnerships that enhance the credit union's visibility and community impact.
  • Measure, analyze, and report the effectiveness of all outreach, sponsorship, volunteer, and financial wellness initiatives using data-driven performance metrics.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual community impact reports for executive leadership and the Board of Directors, highlighting outcomes, return on investment, membership growth, financial wellness participation, and community engagement results.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Retail, Mortgage, Consumer Lending, Business Development, and Executive Leadership to integrate community outreach and financial wellness initiatives into enterprise-wide growth strategies.
  • Manage the department's operating budget and ensure efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Continuously evaluate industry trends, community needs, and best practices to ensure 7 17 Credit Union remains a recognized leader in community engagement and financial wellness.

  • Build strategic partnerships with community organizations, schools, businesses, chambers of commerce, labor organizations, nonprofit agencies, municipalities, and civic leaders.
  • Represent 7 17 Credit Union as a community ambassador at key events.
  • Oversee community sponsorships and evaluate return on investment.
  • Lead volunteer and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities that increase brand awareness and community impact.

3. Financial Wellness

  • Oversee all financial wellness programming across the credit union.
  • Lead the development of educational content and workshops covering:
    • Budgeting
    • Credit Improvement
    • Saving
    • Investing
    • Fraud Prevention
    • Auto Buying
    • Homeownership
    • Mortgage Readiness
    • Retirement Planning
  • Expand financial coaching services for members and community partners.
  • Develop customized financial wellness programs for Workplace Partners.

Confidentiality Requirements: Must keep employee information, member transactions and all other Credit Union business in strictest confidence.

Travel Demands:  Must be able to travel regionally as needed.

Qualifications:

Prerequisite Education:

          1. High school diploma or equivalent

          2. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field

          4. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered

 

Prerequisite Experience:

 

  1. Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in community outreach, community relations, business development, financial wellness, marketing, public relations, nonprofit leadership, banking, or credit union operations
  2. Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing staff, developing talent, and driving organizational performance
  3. Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic community engagement or financial wellness initiatives
  4. Experience establishing and maintaining partnerships with employers, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, chambers of commerce, and community stakeholders
  5. Experience managing departmental budgets, projects, and multiple priorities simultaneously
  6. Strong public speaking and presentation experience with the ability to engage audiences of varying sizes
  7. Proven ability to analyze data, measure program effectiveness, and communicate results to executive leadership
