Scientist, Formulation Discovery - LNP

76Bio is seeking a highly motivated and talented formulation scientist to help build a delivery platform to realize the potential of our TPD platform. The individual will work closely with the medicinal chemistry team to design novel lipid nanoparticles for efficient delivery to tumors. They will help develop and drive the formulation strategy. They will be accountable for mentoring the rest of the formulation discovery team in designing and executing experiments to optimize processes and compositions, aimed at improving the biological activity and manufacturability of the delivery vehicles. They will be an integral member of a cross functional team, providing interpretation of data and contributing to the strategic direction of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work with the medicinal chemistry team to design and execute on a formulation strategy for testing new lipid components
· Design and develop optimal formulation processes and compositions to improve LNP delivery to tumor
· Manufacture and perform bio-physical characterization of LNPs for in vitro and in vivo experiments
· Ensure efficiency of workflows and integration of high-throughput methods where feasible
· Explore alternative characterization methods to aid in building our structure function relationships
· Collaborate with biology colleagues on designing assays to better understand LNP biology
· Collaborate with pharmacology colleagues in testing novel LNPs in vivo and interpretation of the results
· Serve as subject matter expert in collaborations with technology partners and CDMOs ensuring quality and consistency of results
· Present formulation strategy and results to internal and external stakeholders, including executive committee and SAB
· Coordinate with colleagues on sample preparation and shipping LNP samples for testing at CROs
· Capturing and recording experimental details and analyses in a laboratory notebook
Essential Qualifications:
- B.S., M.S or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, biology or related fields with pharmaceutical industry experience (10 years for BS, 8 years for MS, 2 years PhD)
- Experience in the design and development of lipid nanoparticles for oligonucleotide delivery
- Demonstrated ability to design, formulate and characterize LNPs
- Experience with a variety of analytical techniques (DLS, HPLC, SEC, SAXs, etc.)
- Familiarity with micro-fluidic techniques and experience in manufacturing
- Ability to collaborate effectively both within and across teams
- Must be organized, self-motivated, proactive, work well under pressure and deadlines, and detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate work on several simultaneous projects
