Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring that raw materials, fabrication, welds, and finished products meet established quality standards and specifications. This role involves performing inspections and tests using specialized equipment, documenting results with precision, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The scope includes, but is not limited to dimensional inspections, weld quality, workmanship, in-process inspections, final inspections, and receiving inspections. In addition, this position will conduction final document review and records are organized and stored in a clean, and safe condition upon completion of manufacturing. Last this role will be expected to assist in material handling and packaging upon completion of related inspections to support efficient production flow. Principle Responsibilities: Demonstrate Crane’s core values, Genuine Care and Concern, Helpfulness, Integrity. Maintains safe work habits and willing to report safety related events to management. Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds using various tools and techniques including Non-destructive examination (NDE) to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications. Interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, codes, and specifications to determine inspection criteria. Perform and document visual inspections of raw materials, and fabricated assemblies throughout the production process. Ensure product’s adherence to company quality standards (material traceability, quality documentation, etc.) and maintain detailed records of inspection results, non-conformances and corrective actions. Use a computer or mobile device to compile and submit data of acceptance or rejection of inspections, as well as for inter-office communications. Assist in qualification of new welders and maintenance of ASME IX welder performance qualifications and continuity Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Coordinate 3rd party NDE services. Perform final inspection of completed weldments to verify all dimensions are within tolerance. Maintain and calibrate inspection tools and equipment. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes. Assist in internal audits and preparation for external audits or customer visits. Conduct final visual inspection prior to shipment Conduct in bound material receiving inspections and provide accurate dispositions Provide feedback to supply chain team for any supplier non-conformance Must be willing to support material handling during production ensure efficient production flow May be required to support unpacking of raw materials upon arrival and preparation for inspection. May be required to support final packaging of the finished product before shipment after final inspection. May be required to close work orders in the ERP system after final inspection is complete. Education, Work Experience, Skill Requirements, and Certifications High school diploma or equivalent certificate. 2 years experience with welding and quality inspection Preferably to hold AWS CWI or CAWI certificate or willing to obtain Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in cryogenic or pressure piping system considered a plus. Familiarity with various inspection tools and instruments (tape measure, caliper, depth micrometer, bore scope, etc) Working knowledge of surface and subsurface NDE methodologies. Familiarity with different welding process and weld defect types ASME B31.3 process piping and ASME Section IX knowledge. Must maintain a positive demeanor with a sense of curiosity Ability to adapt with changing needs of the growing business Coachable and demonstrate active listening Physical Demands Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run. Willingness to work a flexible schedule inclusive of overtime and weekends depending on business needs Must be a legal resident of the United States with reliable transportation. Must be able to work in both shop and office environments. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
