Lesson Instructor - English Discipline

Join 7 Oaks Stables as a dedicated Lesson Instructor to help lead our growing English discipline program. In this role, you’ll teach private and group lessons, mentor riders from foundational horsemanship to technical skills, and contribute to our camp programming. We are looking for a safety-conscious professional who excels in clear communication and is passionate about providing an elevated guest experience.

Time Commitment

15-20 hours a week with room to grow.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instruction & Coaching
   
2. 1. Deliver engaging private and group English lessons (equitation, dressage basics, and foundation jumping).
   2. Lessons tailored to individual rider goals and ability levels.
   3. Contribute to English-focused programming for adult and youth camps.
3. Horse Care & Facility Operations
   
4. 1. Maintain high standards of equine welfare, barn safety, and facility professionalism.
   2. Tune lesson horses during the week to maintain their training and responsiveness.
5. Communication & Client Experience
   
6. 1. Provide clear, professional communication with students, parents, and barn staff.
   2. Uphold the 7 Oaks standard for client service, program quality, and facility presentation.
   3. Collaborate with the team to foster a positive, supportive barn culture.

Required Qualifications

1. Teaching Expertise: Strong background in English disciplines (dressage and groundwork) with a proven ability to teach beginners through intermediate riders safely and effectively.
2. Equine Knowledge: Solid understanding of equine behavior, flatwork, and foundational jumping principles.
3. Instructional Approach: Creative and adaptable teaching style capable of helping students develop confidence, "feel," and technical skills.
4. Physical Requirements: Physically capable of handling horses, assisting with tacking, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
5. Operational Reliability: Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends; available to assist with horse prep, daily care, and tune-ups for lesson horses as needed.
6. Professionalism: Excellent interpersonal skills with all ages; reliable, safety-conscious, and a collaborative team player.
7. Horsemanship: Candidates should either possess a strong foundation in natural horsemanship (including groundwork, handling, and basic horse care) or demonstrate a genuine willingness and ability to learn and develop these skills as part of the role. We value instructors who understand and respect the horse as a partner, not just a teaching tool.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Professional Experience:
2. 1. Prior experience working within a professional boarding/training facility or structured lesson program.
   2. Proven track record in successfully leading camp instruction.
3. Specialized Skills & Knowledge:
4. 1. Crossover Knowledge: Familiarity with both English and Western disciplines.
   2. Professional Credentials: Relevant certifications or formal training (e.g., USHJA, USEA/USEF, or equivalent).
