About the Role
As a Personal Service Representative I, you’ll be the first point of contact for our members—welcoming them to the Credit Union, assisting with everyday transactions, and helping them find the financial solutions that best fit their needs. This position combines teller and member service functions, providing a full range of banking services with professionalism, enthusiasm, and care.
What You’ll Do
- Greet and assist members and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.
- Handle a variety of monetary transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments, and account transfers.
- Open, maintain, and close consumer accounts (checking, savings, certificates, money markets, etc.).
- Conduct consumer loan interviews, process and close loans, and disburse funds accurately.
- Educate members on online and mobile banking tools and other digital services.
- Protect member confidentiality and adhere to all credit union policies and procedures.
- Proactively identify opportunities to recommend products and services that meet member needs.
- Meet or exceed service, sales, and relationship-building goals.
Qualifications:
What We’re Looking For
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 9 months of recent experience in a financial or customer service role, such as teller, personal banker, or member service representative.
- Proven ability to meet performance and service goals.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in a high-volume environment.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and navigate multiple computer systems.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
Additional Requirements
- Must be bondable.
- SAFE Act registration and Notary Public certification required (may be completed after hire).
- Limited local travel may be required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role involves a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day, along with regular use of hands to operate tools, equipment, or technology. Occasional reaching, balancing, or crouching may be required.
Employees should be able to lift up to 20 pounds multiple times per day. Good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception) is important for accuracy in this role.
Work is generally performed indoors in a moderate-noise environment, with limited exposure to mechanical parts or outdoor conditions.
