Position Title: Senior Quality Assurance Technician
Reports to: Quality, Food Safety, & Sanitation Manager
Status: Full Time
Shift: First
Hours*: 6:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Days: Monday through Friday (Saturday as needed)
Basic Function: To assure the quality of product and processes through specification testing.
Job Description
I. Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure finished product and its components are produced consistently within quality specifications.
- Ensure all production processes are in control.
- Develop and maintain rapport with peers and support departments (production, maintenance, sanitation, shipping/receiving, etc.) and maintain “team” status.
- Communicate current issues and all other pertinent information to the department manager, Quality Manager as well as other Quality staff on a daily basis.
- Ensure that all employees and the plant environment meet FDA regulations and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
- Ensure accuracy and legibility of all printed info on wraps, cartons, and cases; code dates, product description, UPC, and all customer required information.
II. Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitors compliance to specifications, and reports to area supervisors when adjustments are necessary.
- Verifies sanitation and GMP compliance, and reports problems to the Production Manager and Quality Manager.
- Monitor’s food safety and product quality continuously throughout the operation by ensuring that all product and processes are in control, including component weights, packaging integrity, carton scales, labeling accuracy, and metal detection CCP (Critical Control Point).
- Communicate with department supervisors to ensure product is performing satisfactorily and to facilitate an orderly shift transfer.
- Audit completion, results communicated to managers as needed.
- Daily data entry, data analysis to determine trends, spot one-offs.
- Assisting in R&D – mixing batches, preparing sales samples
III. Other Functions
- Food Safety, HACCP, PCQI, Food Defense and Food Fraud trained/certified
- Must understand FDA, AIB and FSMA (American Institute of Baking / Food Safety Modernization Act) concepts and terminology (HACCP, GMPs, CCP), as well as what quality and food safety mean to the business and to our customers.
- Sensory program set-up, documentation and maintenance
- Swab program – scheduling, swabbing, documentation, escalate all nonconformances to Quality Manager.
- Summarizing Quarterly Waste Water reports, documentation, ensure report is delivered on time
- Preparing customer requested documents, export documents
- Label Database – creation of new labels, download to printers, maintenance.
- Updating Quality KPI’s
- Assist with needs or problems throughout the plant. Work with all supervisors to identify best solutions to problems. Other duties not specifically listed here may be assigned as well.
