Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Director of Network Operations, this role is built for someone who likes being in the middle of the action. You’ll keep networks running, fix what breaks, and help build what’s next across both fiber and microwave infrastructure. Some days you’ll be deep in troubleshooting; other days you’ll be on a rooftop bringing a new site online. This is not a desk-only role. It’s for someone who understands how networks operate in the real world. CCNP or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.
You’ll be keeping networks up, fixing what breaks, building what’s next, and making sure everything runs the way it’s supposed to across both fiber and microwave infrastructure. Some days you’re deep in troubleshooting, other days you’re on a rooftop bringing a new site online.
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk role. It’s for someone who knows how networks work in the real world.
CCNP or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.
Core Responsibilities - What You’ll Be Doing
Keep the Network Running
- Handle day-to-day network issues, alerts, and customer problems
- Act as a Tier 2 escalation point for complex issues
- Drive root cause resolution, not just quick fixes
- Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed
- Participate in an on-call rotation for network incidents
Build and Deploy
- Install and deploy routers, switches, microwave radios, and wireless equipment
- Work with Cisco, Ubiquiti, and similar platforms
- Travel to sites, including rooftops and elevated environments
- Run and test fiber and copper to ensure performance and reliability
Own the Wireless Side
- Deploy and align ISP-grade microwave backhaul links
- Troubleshoot RF issues including interference and signal degradation
- Maintain stable, high-performance wireless connectivity
Make It Better
- Support upgrades, expansions, and infrastructure improvements
- Maintain accurate documentation and configurations
- Identify recurring issues and implement long-term fixes
Support and Communicate
- Respond to tickets, calls, and emails promptly
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
- Provide basic end-user support and training when needed
- Maintain internal knowledge base documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex issues
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders on status and resolution
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with IT teams to address cross-functional technical challenges and improve overall service quality.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with users and leadership, keeping stakeholders informed on issue resolution and project updates.
Qualifications - What You Bring
- 5–7 years of experience in network engineering, telecom, or ISP environments
- Strong hands-on experience with routing, switching, and troubleshooting
- Required: Real-world experience with ISP or carrier-grade microwave radio systems (installation, alignment,troubleshooting, and maintenance)
- Experience with Cambium, Ubiquiti airFiber, Siklu, or similar platforms preferred
- Comfortable working both in the field and in technical troubleshooting environments
- Ability to take ownership and drive issues to resolution
Physical Reality of the Job
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable working at heights and on ladders
- Willingness to perform hands-on installation work
- Will drive own or company vehicles
Other Must-Haves
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to sites
- VoIP experience is a plus
Education
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
