The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the site Quality Management System and overall quality performance within a high-reliability electronics manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements while driving measurable improvements in product quality, manufacturing performance, customer satisfaction, and operational discipline.

The Quality Manager owns quality systems, customer quality, internal and external audit readiness, corrective and preventive action, supplier quality support, manufacturing quality planning, and continuous improvement. This leader partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Document Control, and Leadership to ensure quality is built into processes, products, and culture from new product introduction through shipment.

This position is a hands-on, high-accountability leader who can operate at both the strategic and tactical level in an electronics manufacturing services environment serving high-reliability, regulated, and customer-driven markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable customer, regulatory, and industry requirements, including ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, NADCAP, ITAR, and customer-specific requirements
  • Interpret external standards and customer requirements and translate them into practical internal procedures, controls, work instructions, and records.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead internal audits, customer audits, certification audits, surveillance audits, and special process audits.
  • Ensure audit findings, observations, and nonconformances are documented, communicated, tracked, and closed within required timelines.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for quality-related issues, complaints, disclosures, corrective actions, audits, and specification inquiries.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to investigate issues, contain risk, communicate effectively, and prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor manufacturing quality performance and ensure timely containment, escalation, and resolution of defects, trends, and escapes.
  • Lead initial investigation and disposition support for nonconforming material and product quality concerns.
  • Lead root cause investigations and CAPA activities related to customer complaints, audit findings, internal defects, process failures, supplier issues, and systemic nonconformances.
  • Escalate significant quality and compliance risks to leadership with clear recommendations and recovery actions.
  • Ensuring quality requirements are built into control plans, PFMEAs, inspection methods, validation plans, first article requirements, and manufacturing documentation before release to production.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality resources to support supplier qualification, monitoring, corrective action, and incoming quality performance.
  • Escalate supplier-related quality risks and support SCARs, containment actions, audit preparation, and performance improvement plans.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the site quality team, including quality engineers, inspectors, auditors, technicians, and other assigned personnel.
  • Establish, monitor, and report key quality performance indicators including FPY, scrap, rework, returns, escapes, customer complaints, PPM, CAPA closure, audit findings, supplier quality, and cost of poor quality.

Qualifications

  • · Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 7 years of progressive quality leadership experience in electronics manufacturing, EMS, PCB assembly, cable assembly, box build, electromechanical assembly, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading QMS compliance, audits, CAPA, customer quality, and manufacturing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 13485, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and other applicable customer or regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in regulated and customer-driven environments requiring traceability, change control, validation, and audit discipline.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing outcomes across operations, engineering, supply chain, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ certification such as CQM, CQE, CQA, or similar.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience with medical, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience with supplier quality systems, special process compliance, and validation oversight.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards and workmanship expectations commonly used in electronics manufacturing.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes including SMT, through-hole, assembly, soldering, inspection, and test.
  • Strong knowledge of core quality tools including APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, 8D, RCCA, and DOE.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, auditors, operators, engineers, and executives.
  • Strong organizational discipline, follow-up, and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to balance compliance rigor with practical manufacturing execution
  • High integrity, strong judgment, and calm leadership under pressure.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Job requires that employee is able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 25 - 50 pounds
  • Must have excellent eyesight and hearing (cannot be color blind)
  • Work environment includes machines and tools with sharp moving parts and hot surfaces
  • Employees may be exposed to moderate noise levels and processes that utilize solder, potting material, conformal coating and cleaning agents, which have various odors
  • Employees must wear safety glasses ,ESD smocks, ESD straps at all times when on the production floor (all of these items are provided by 4Front)

ITAR Requirements

To conform with International Traffic in Arms Regulars (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or actively working towards obtaining the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
