About Us
4byfreak works with collector and enthusiast vehicles, preparing them for sale on Bring a Trailer and other online auction platforms. Every car that comes through our doors needs to run right, drive right, and be honestly represented to buyers. We’re looking for an experienced mechanic to help make that happen.
The Role
We’re hiring a full-time mechanic to inspect, diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of vehicles, from classic and vintage cars to modern performance and enthusiast models. The right person is mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, and enjoys solving problems on cars that don’t always come with a service manual.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming vehicles and document their mechanical condition
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, cooling, fuel, and electrical issues
- Perform routine maintenance, including fluids, filters, belts, hoses, tune-ups, and tires
- Get vehicles running and road-ready before they’re photographed and listed
- Assist with cold starts, test drives, and video clips for listings as needed
- Clearly report findings and known issues so listings stay accurate
- Keep the shop, tools, and work area clean, organized, and safe
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience working on cars (professional shop experience preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills
- Comfortable working on both older carbureted vehicles and newer fuel-injected cars
- Ability to read and use scan tools, wiring diagrams, and service manuals
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Nice to Have
- Experience with classic, vintage, European, or exotic vehicles
- Familiarity with Bring a Trailer or the collector car market
