The Cardiac Catheterization Lab Specialist is responsible for providing direct patient care in the Cardiac Cath lab, Peripheral Vascular Lab, Cath Lab Holding Room, and the Electrophysiology Lab, performing and functioning as a member of a multidisciplinary team. In addition, this role is expected to function and provide high quality, safe, culturally competent cost-effective patient care in all areas of operations by means of assessment, planning, evaluation, and intervention/follow up. Essential Job Function Assesses patients' medical history and current condition to prepare them for cardiac catheterization procedures. Prepares specialized equipment and monitors patients during procedures, ensuring safety and optimal outcomes. Maintains a safe environment, adheres to universal precautions, and utilizes personal protective equipment to minimize risks and ensure the well-being of patients and staff. Collaborates with the healthcare team, including physicians and technicians, to support smooth and successful procedures. Provides patient education and support before, during, and after cardiac Cath lab procedures. Adheres to professional advancement program requirements, engages in ongoing education, and mentors others to promote professional growth and development to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field, leading to improved patient care and clinical expertise. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Required: Graduate from one or more of the following programs required: Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Cardiovascular Technology Program, or appropriately recognized Paramedic program. Experience Required: 1 - 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience, or 1 - 2 years of Radiology Technical experience, 2 years Paramedic experience, or >2 years of Critical Care or Emergency Department nursing experience.Preferred: Cardiac specialty experience. Licensure/Certification/Listing REQUIRED BLS/ACLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider Radiology Technologist - ARRT Radiology Technologist registry,ORRespiratory Therapist - licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) as an RRT,ANDcredentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as an RRT. Cardiovascular Technology Program - Graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular Program,ORParamedic - North Carolina EMT-P credentialing/accreditation and/or Paramedic Associate Degree from a appropriately recognized Paramedic program.Graduates from a Cardiovascular Program are required to complete RCIS certification within 3 months of employment.
