About the role We are looking for a Metallurgical Engineer – Concentrator Operations to join our Concentrator Technical team at Kennecott Copper. Working closely with operations, maintenance, planning, and control room teams, this role supports safe and efficient concentrator performance with a focus on throughput, recovery, concentrate quality, and cost efficiency. This is a site-based, hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys being present in the plant, working collaboratively with operators, and balancing daily operational support with longer‑term improvement projects. Reporting to the Superintendent, Process Control, on a 9day fortnight (9/80) roster and working collaboratively with operational and functional teams, you will be responsible for: Participate in site safety programs, including risk assessments, daily production meetings, and field leadership activities Monitor and analyse concentrator performance (recovery, grade, quality, and reagent consumption) Identify performance gaps and implement practical operating strategies to meet metallurgical targets Provide clear, timely technical guidance to operators, maintainers, and cross-functional teams Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Control Room to optimise setpoints, reagent strategies, and circuit configuration Support troubleshooting during process upsets and lead/assist with sampling and laboratory test work Perform metallurgical and statistical analysis (e.g. PI, Minitab, JMP) and document insights and recommendations Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance recovery, stability, and cost performance About you A commitment to the safety of yourself and the team Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering (or related discipline) 2 years’ experience in a concentrator or mineral processing environment (flotation preferred) Strong understanding of flotation fundamentals, plant data analysis, and process troubleshooting Experience working closely with operations in a high-throughput, continuous processing environment Proficiency in plant data and statistical analysis tools (e.g. PI, Minitab, JMP) Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust across teams Self-motivated with strong time management skills, able to balance day-to-day support with longer-term improvement work Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
