Position Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role assists in the month-end and year-end close processes, prepares financial reports, and ensures compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to grow, and has foundational experience in a professional accounting environment.

Position Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role assists in the month-end and year-end close processes, prepares financial reports, and ensures compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to grow, and has foundational experience in a professional accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries for daily and monthly transactions
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
- Assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies in account balances
- Support the monthly close process, including accruals and prepaid schedules
- Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and provide supporting documentation to auditors
- Maintain supporting schedules for fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization
- Ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
- Assist with sales tax filings and other regulatory compliance requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA candidate or intent to pursue CPA licensure preferred
- 1-2 years of accounting experience post college with a public and/or corporate organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, basic formulas)
- Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite or similar ERP
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Teams)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, accruals)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
