What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales & Event Operations Internship position at 3STEP Sports?
Bigfoot Hoops is a leading organization in youth basketball, known for hosting high-level, nationwide tournaments and events that provide exposure for young players.
The Bigfoot Hoops Sales & Event Internship is a 7-month (February - August) paid position based out of our office in Plano, TX. Interns will work under the guidance of Bigfoot Directors & Leadership to plan and implement basketball events and tournaments on a weekly basis. This annual program has been the kickstart to many successful careers across basketball, collegiate, and professional organizations.
The goal of this Sales & Event Internship is to provide a fully immersive experience in all aspects of sports business and create a path towards a successful career in the industry. Top-performing Intern have gone on to full-time positions within the sports industry, with many staying on in full-time roles with both Bigfoot Hoops and other brands/departments within 3STEP Sports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with customers, selling event and tournament slots to coaches and teams.
- Work directly with Bigfoot's leadership team on market strategy, including setting season schedules, projecting facility needs, and implementing new market strategies.
- Schedule events within the region, and in some instances, manage multiple events in a given week.
- Assist with NCAA Compliance for recruiting events.
- Register and collect payments from our customer base on a weekly basis.
- Assist with venue/facility setup and breakdown, acting as a Site Director at tournaments throughout the season.
- Drive revenue growth through building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Travel across the US to large events & tournaments as needed.
- Attend basketball networking events.
- Ensure correct equipment and supplies are packed and transported to each facility.
- Maintain systems to inventory and organize equipment.
- Act as an on-site lead at Bigfoot events and tournaments.
Desired Qualifications & Characteristics:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Major in Sport Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Aspiration to be a leader in the sports industry and a strong interest in working in basketball.
- Desire and ability to thrive in an extremely demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Interest in event operations or sales.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task effectively.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required by events.
- Willingness to travel frequently to various locations.
- Prior event management or sales experience is a plus.
