As we continue expanding across Michigan and nationally, we are looking for a highly motivated, field driven sales professional to help grow our presence across both on-premise and off-premise channels.
Position Overview
3rd Deck Brewing Co. is seeking a driven and entrepreneurial Market Manager to lead sales execution
throughout Michigan. This individual will be responsible for growing points of distribution (POD), opening new accounts, increasing brand visibility at retail, supporting distributor execution, conducting samplings and events, and driving long-term market growth.
This is a hands-on field sales role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building relationships, and takes pride in creating momentum at store level. The ideal candidate is a true hunter, self- starter, and execution-focused operator who understands how to build a brand market-by-market.
Compensation & Benefits
• Base Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 (commensurate with experience)
• On-Target Earnings (OTE): $90,000 – $100,000
• Performance-based bonus tied to POD growth, new account acquisition, and volume goals (paid monthly and quarterly)
• Mileage reimbursement at IRS rate
• Approved travel, sampling, and market expenses reimbursed
• Unlimited Paid time off
• Laptop, branded apparel, and POS materials provided
• Full-time, outside sales position
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Distribution Growth
• Grow POD across both on-premise and off-premise channels throughout Michigan
• Field rides with distribution representatives in the state of Michigan
• Secure new placements, cold box opportunities, displays, features, and menu placements
• Expand facings and shelf presence within existing accounts
• Build strong relationships with retailers, bar managers, buyers, and distributor sales teams
• Identify opportunities for chain programming and regional account expansion
Distributor Management
• Support distributor execution and ensure focus on priority accounts
• Assist with resets, display execution, and chain programming
• Monitor inventory levels and help prevent out-of-stocks
• Maintain strong communication with distributor leadership and field sales teams
Brand Activation & Market Execution
• Conduct in-store samplings, tastings, and consumer activations
• Execute brand events, festivals, and community partnerships — with an emphasis on veteran and
military-community engagement
• Represent the brand professionally at all retail and consumer-facing events
• Build local market awareness and grassroots brand momentum
• Ensure POS materials and displays are properly executed in market
Account Management & Reporting
• Maintain strong relationships with existing accounts
• Drive reorder frequency and account performance
• Identify opportunities for incremental placements and promotions
• Track market activity, account updates, and execution priorities in CRM (e.g., VIP, Karma)
• Submit a weekly recap to leadership covering accounts visited, new POD, samplings, and competitive activity
• Maintain organized reporting and territory management
Performance Expectations
• Grow distribution and POD across assigned Michigan territory (specific annual targets set with
leadership)
• Increase cold box placements, displays, and secondary placements
• Drive execution within key chain accounts and independent retail
• Execute a monthly schedule of samplings and market activations (target: 6–10 per month)
• Achieve monthly sales and account acquisition goals
• Maintain accurate CRM and market reporting activity
Territory Coverage
This role will support the entire state of Michigan. Preferred home-base in Grand Rapids.
Qualifications
• 3 years of beverage alcohol sales experience (craft beer strongly preferred)
• Strong understanding of beer distribution and the three-tier system
• Experience working with distributors, chain accounts, and independent retailers
• Self-motivated, competitive, and highly organized
• Hunter mentality with strong relationship-building skills• Ability to work independently in the field
• Willingness to travel throughout Michigan (overnight travel as needed)
• Evening and weekend availability for events and samplings as needed
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
• Must be 21 years of age or older
Preferred Experience
• Craft beer, beverage, or supplier-side experience
• Existing relationships within Michigan retail and on-premise markets
• Experience executing samplings and event activations
• Experience growing emerging brands within competitive markets
• Experience working directly with chain account execution and distributor management
• Military background or strong connection to the veteran community a plus
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move beer cases up to 50 lbs, POS materials, and sampling equipment
• Ability to stand for extended periods during samplings and events
• Ability to travel daily throughout assigned territory
