Duties
- Prepare surfaces meticulously through sanding, scraping, caulking, drywall finishing, plastering, and surface cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to determine scope and materials needed for each project.
- Apply paint using various techniques including brush painting, roller painting, hand tools, spray guns (conventional and construction spray painting), and power tools to achieve smooth, durable finishes.
- Perform structural painting on steel beams, masonry surfaces such as stucco and brickwork, as well as renovation and remodeling projects requiring detailed surface preparation.
- Select appropriate coatings based on color theory principles and project requirements; conduct visual color comparisons for consistency.
- Operate ladders safely to access high or hard-to-reach areas while adhering strictly to safety regulations and respiratory protection protocols.
- Install fixtures or perform minor handyman tasks such as masonry work or fixture installation as needed during projects.
- Maintain a clean work environment by properly storing tools like hand tools, paint sprayers, and other equipment; ensure all safety protocol adherence on-site.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members to clarify project details; interpret technical drawings accurately for precise application.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating related to painting projects is highly desirable.
- Extensive background in residential painting with knowledge of color theory and surface preparation techniques.
- Hands-on experience with commercial and industrial painting including coating applications on various surfaces such as drywall, stucco, masonry, and metal structures.
- Skilled in using a variety of tools including brushes, rollers, spray equipment (conventional and construction spray), power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and safety gear.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and understanding construction site safety regulations.
- Knowledge of renovation processes involving drywall installation/repair, caulking, plastering, masonry work, fixture installation, and general maintenance tasks.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and material estimations accurately.
- Prior experience working on construction sites with adherence to safety standards including respiratory protection measures is essential.
