Summary: The Production Lead supports daily manufacturing operations by coordinating workflow, ensuring production schedules are met, and maintaining quality and safety standards. This role serves as a working leader—providing hands-on support, guidance, and communication between production employees and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production activities to ensure schedules, quality, and safety goals are achieved.
- Assign work, monitor progress, and adjust resources as needed to meet production targets.
- Support and coach production team members in standard work, efficiency, and problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, operating procedures, and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with Production Manager, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
- Assist in training new employees and reinforcing best practices across shifts.
- Monitor equipment performance, report downtime, and coordinate maintenance needs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, attendance, and performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 3 years of manufacturing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or team lead role.
- Strong understanding of production processes, quality systems, and safety practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead by example and foster a positive, accountable team environment.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, ERP systems preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs frequently.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to assist with team lifting of loads exceeding 50 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to stand for the entire length of the shift (up to 10 hours).
- Must be able to work in and around manufacturing and production equipment.
- Frequent climbing of ladders, bending, stooping, standing, walking, twisting, kneeling, and reaching.
- Must be able to see and hear to acknowledge critical safety instructions, alarms, forklift traffic, and perform quality and equipment inspections.
- Must be able to sustain repetitive movement of both upper and lower extremities with varying degrees of force.
- Must be able to push and pull up to 100 pounds of force regularly, including moving pallets, carts, glass/plastic sheets, and boxes using a hand truck or similar equipment.
