3D Technology Solutions, a growing low voltage and security integration company based in Rancho Cordova, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance leader with strong experience in construction and project-based accounting, preferably within low voltage, electrical, security, or systems integration environments. The right candidate will also have solid experience using Sage accounting software and supporting fast-paced field operations.
Position Summary
The Controller will oversee all accounting functions, financial reporting, job costing, cash flow management, and internal controls for the company. This person will work closely with leadership and project teams to ensure accurate project financials, timely reporting, and strong operational support across multiple active jobs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end close.
- Manage construction and project-based accounting for low voltage and security integration projects, including job costing, work-in-progress tracking, and profitability analysis.
- Maintain and optimize the company's use of Sage accounting software for accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Monitor cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls across ongoing projects and company operations.
- Partner with project managers and operations leaders to review project budgets, labor costs, material costs, change orders, and margins.
- Support billing processes, including progress billing, contract billing, retainage tracking, and collections.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, internal controls, and company financial policies.
- Coordinate with external CPA firms, auditors, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners.
- Develop and improve accounting processes, reporting tools, and internal workflows to support company growth.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of accounting or finance leadership experience, with significant experience in construction, contracting, or project-based environments.
- Strong background in job cost accounting and financial management of construction-related projects.
- Hands-on experience with Sage accounting software required.
- Experience in low voltage, security integration, electrical contracting, or related trades strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with project managers, operations teams, and executive leadership.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- CPA or CMA is a plus, but not required.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting businesses involved in access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, structured cabling, fire alarm, or integrated building systems.
- Familiarity with project billing, subcontractor management, and contract administration.
- Experience improving accounting systems and processes in a growing service or construction business.
