Salary: Starting at $65,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

Position Overview

3D Security Training Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Instructor – Firearms, Security & Protective Services to help lead one of the premier private security training programs in the Southwest.

This is not an entry-level instructor position.

We are looking for an experienced professional who has dedicated their career to developing others and understands that the quality of instruction directly impacts the safety and success of the people we train.

The Senior Instructor works directly with the Chief Operating Officer to deliver exceptional training, mentor instructors, develop curriculum, ensure regulatory compliance, and continue expanding our training programs throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, and New Mexico.

This individual will set the standard for professionalism, instructional excellence, leadership, customer service, and safety.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesInstruction
  • Deliver classroom, live-fire, force-on-force, and practical skills training.
  • Teach firearms, defensive tactics, active shooter response, emergency preparedness, private security licensing, and specialty courses.
  • Maintain a professional, engaging, and safe learning environment.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure every class meets or exceeds company standards.
Instructor Leadership
  • Mentor and coach instructors.
  • Evaluate instructor performance.
  • Assist in developing future instructors.
  • Promote professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain consistency across all training programs.
  • Assist in identifying and recruiting qualified instructors.
Curriculum Development
  • Develop new training programs.
  • Update lesson plans, presentations, and student materials.
  • Research legal updates, emerging threats, and industry best practices.
  • Develop realistic scenario-based training exercises.
  • Continuously improve existing curriculum.
Operations
  • Coordinate training schedules.
  • Maintain instructor certifications and training records.
  • Oversee firearms, ammunition, training aids, and instructor equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with instructor licensing and regulatory requirements in all states where 3D Security Training Solutions is licensed to teach, including Arizona, California, Colorado, and New Mexico.
  • Prepare reports, after-action reviews, and training documentation.
  • Maintain accurate student records and training files.
Business Development
  • Meet with prospective and existing clients.
  • Conduct presentations and training demonstrations.
  • Assist with government and commercial proposals.
  • Represent 3D Security Training Solutions at conferences, trade shows, networking events, and client meetings.
  • Identify opportunities to expand training services.
Leadership
  • Lead by example.
  • Uphold company values and professional standards.
  • Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist executive leadership in achieving company objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Option One
  • Master Instructor certification from a nationally recognized organization, or an equivalent level of instructional qualification and experience recognized by 3D Security Training Solutions.
OROption Two
  • Minimum of 5,000 documented instructional hours in one or more of the following:
  • Law Enforcement
  • Military
  • Private Security
  • Government Training
  • Adult Professional Education

Additionally, applicants must possess:

  • Minimum five years of professional instructional experience.
  • Outstanding classroom presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience teaching adult learners.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • High ethical standards and unquestionable integrity.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass all required background investigations and pre-employment screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • New Mexico RLD Certified Instructor
  • Arizona Department of Public Safety Instructor
  • California BSIS Instructor experience
  • Colorado security or law enforcement instructor experience
  • NRA Law Enforcement Instructor
  • NRA Certified Instructor
  • Military Instructor
  • Law Enforcement Academy Instructor
  • ASP Instructor
  • Defensive Tactics Instructor
  • Reality-Based Training Instructor
  • Active Shooter / ALERRT Instructor
  • First Aid / CPR Instructor
  • Government contract training experience
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Experience supervising instructors
  • Experience managing live-fire ranges
Physical Requirements
  • Demonstrate advanced firearms proficiency.
  • Demonstrate defensive tactics techniques.
  • Lift and move training equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods while instructing.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Travel throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, and other states as required.
