This role requires balancing credit risk with business growth in a high-volume, compliance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate credit data, income documentation, and financial statements of subprime applicants.
- Assess risk and make recommendations on lease approvals, modifications, or declines in accordance with company policy and risk appetite.
- Utilize alternative credit data sources (e.g., personal and business credit reports, background checks, bank statements) to form credit assessments.
- Perform manual underwriting and apply judgment beyond credit scores and standard models.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and internal regulations, including FCRA, ECOA, and fair lending laws.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or risk management – preferably in subprime auto, personal, or mortgage lending.
- Strong understanding of subprime borrower behavior and associated risk factors.
- Proficiency with credit scoring models, underwriting systems, and financial analysis tools.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with manual underwriting is highly desirable.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Familiarity with technology tools (Excel, Salesforce, etc.).
