Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for a Building Consultant. The Building Consultant will be responsible for inspecting construction sites, developing project plans, and ensuring compliance with building regulations. The role requires evaluating project progress, communicating with stakeholders, and providing expert advice. The consultant will also be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning to completion.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, adjusters, brokers, insurers, and key project stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and strong relationship management.
- Develop and deliver detailed, high-value estimates for medium to large commercial and residential projects utilizing Xactimate and other industry-standard tools.
- Oversee and conduct comprehensive field inspections and site evaluations to define project scopes and assess damage with precision.
- Manage and analyze project documentation, including estimates, schedules, contracts, change orders/supplements, correspondence, daily reports, meeting minutes, and monthly updates associated with project.
- Strategically collaborate with Business Development Managers to drive new client acquisition, expand service offerings, and fortify long-term client relationships.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Construction practices and project management
- Extensive experience in the restoration and/or restoration contracting industry, specializing in collaboration with insurance companies and encompassing responsibilities such as project management, scheduling, and estimating.
- Strong proficiency in Xactimate, Symbility, RSMeans, or similar industry-recognized estimating platforms.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Detailed oriented.
- Ability to work independently, remotely, and timely.
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel and Word, coupled with superior verbal and written communication skills and the capability to deliver high-quality expert reports.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to effectively address and resolve client questions and requests.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field. Or, a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience and achievement in the restoration industry may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Capability to dedicate approximately 50% of daily activities to writing detailed reports or performing detailed analysis based on inspection findings.
- Ability to physically conduct indoor and outdoor inspections, including carrying equipment necessary for site evaluations. This includes climbing ladders and walking on elevated platforms or substrates.
- Ability to travel, including local assignments and out-of-state assignments.
