Elementary Health, Wellness and Physical Education Teacher (.7 FTE)

to join our caring staff at our three elementary schools (K-3) 

beginning in the 2026-2027 school year

One-year .7 FTE position for 26-27 school year, covering 3 elementary schools

3.5 days per week, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: full days, Wednesdays: half-day AM, 8:30-noon)

FSLA Status:  Exempt, Unit A

Salary Range: Unit A Salary Scale

JOB GOAL: 

The Wellness Teacher fosters a love of learning and movement that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. The teacher provides learning experiences that engage students in all aspects of physical education and social-emotional learning guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, National P.E. Standards, district standards and requirements. 

QUALIFICIATIONS: 

• Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field

• Professional Certification: 
• MA DESE licenses: Physical Education K-8 and Health Education (K-12)
• Additional certification in special education and/or ESL preferred
• Specialized Knowledge: child development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, social-emotional learning

• CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00. 

Preferred Experience:

• Experience teaching English Language Learners in a diverse setting 
• Experience teaching students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
• Highly desirable to have experience with:
• Adapted Physical Education
• Co-Teaching
• Inquiry-based instruction & Project Based learning
• Second Step
• Responsive Classroom

• Participate in all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed
• Any other relative duties as assigned 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The Health, Wellness and Physical Education Teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff, except to direct any paraeducators who may be assigned to his/her/their classroom.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:  

Salary, benefits, and responsibilities per contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
