DESCRIPTION:
Provide direct academic and behavioral support for kindergarten students in both general education and small-group settings. Assist with instructional activities, support positive behavior, and help create a nurturing and structured learning environment. Work closely with classroom teachers to prepare and modify instructional materials, provide individual or small-group support, and monitor students throughout the school day. Collect student data and maintain records as directed by the classroom teacher.


SALARY:
Classified Grade I starting at $19.05, depending on relevant experience. 8.5 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, 9-month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for benefits.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Provide direct instruction, practice, and/or supervision for kindergarten students under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Support students with academic tasks, early literacy and numeracy skills, and social-emotional development.
• Prepare, organize, and modify instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Assist in reinforcing classroom routines, transitions, and expectations to maintain a safe and structured learning environment.
• Support positive peer interactions and help facilitate problem-solving and relationship-building among students.
• Supervise students in a variety of settings, including the classroom, hallways, playground, cafeteria, and other school areas.
• Provide feedback and communicate observations, concerns, and progress with the classroom teacher.
• Assist with minor clerical tasks and classroom organization as needed.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required by the Building Principal and/or classroom teacher.
• Collaborate with other paraprofessionals and staff to provide consistent support for students.
• Follow daily routines and schedules to ensure consistency for students.
• Other duties may be assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with young children in an educational setting preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret instructional plans and school policies.
• Patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills for working with students, staff, and families.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred at time of hire or able to obtain within 2 months of hire.
• Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.


EXPERIENCE:


• Prior experience working with kindergarten- or elementary-aged students preferred but not required.
• ?Skills in classroom management, fostering positive relationships, and supporting student learning.
EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with students with social and/or emotional disabilities preferred but not required.
• Skills in crisis management, flexibility, patience and ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions.
• Valid driver’s license is required to obtain a small vehicle permit, if required to transport students.
