Midwife

Job purpose

We are currently seeking a Midwife to join our team at 26Health. In this role, you will be responsible for providing the best possible care to our patients, which may include adolescent girls, women of childbearing age and postmenopausal women. This position plays a vital role in expanding our health services efforts and ensuring that all individuals have access to the healthcare services they need.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide prenatal care and monitor the health of pregnant individuals and developing fetuses.
• Conduct pelvic exams for preventative care, to diagnose medical conditions or check the health of a baby.
• Diagnose medical conditions and order tests to make accurate diagnoses.
• Prescribe medications related to reproductive health, such as oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy.
• Deliver babies in hospitals.
• Respond to emergencies and provide critical interventions, when necessary,
• Support expectant and new mothers by listening, asking questions and providing advice.
• Provide medical care for newborns through the first month of life,
• Update patient records and ensure all medial information remains private.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience

• Florida licensed Midwife
• 3 -5 years of experience working as licensed Midwife
• Strong understanding of obstetric and neonatal care patients
• Ability to perform under pressure and in emergency situations
• Knowledge of health disparities, social determinants of health, and barriers to healthcare
• access facing underserved populations.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills to build rapport with patients and explain complex medical issues in a way that is easy to understand.
• Active listening and interviewing skills to uncover symptoms and explore concerns,
• Effective written communication skills to keep accurate, clear records.
• Critical thinking and analytical skills to interpret the findings of exams and results and make diagnoses,
• Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, reproductive health and pharmacology
• Familiarity with medical equipment used for labor and delivery and software used for medical records,
• Thorough understanding of infection control procedures and standards of care for reproductive health.
• Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or English/other relevant languages) preferred but not

required.

Working conditions

• Ability to remain upright and stationary for prolonged periods and aid in moving patients and equipment.
• Work may be required in various environments as needed by project/activity.

Physical requirements

• May require the occasional ability to lift up to 10 pounds
