The Blue Ridge Motel is starting fresh. We're a small, locally owned motel in the heart of the Adirondacks with 12 guest rooms ( 4 more coming soon), a 5-bedroom rental apartment, and big plans to make it one of the most welcoming places to stay in the region.

Renovations are coming soon, with updated rooms, four new rooms on the way, and improvements inside and out. You'll be part of the team from the start and help shape what the Blue Ridge becomes.

We're looking for a Front Desk & Housekeeping Lead to be the heart of the property. You'll greet guests, keep rooms spotless, and help us build a small, reliable team from the ground up. The role at a glance

Pay

$20 to $22 per hour, based on experience

Hours

Full-time, 32 to 40 hours per week (averages 36)

Schedule

A mix of morning shifts (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and afternoon check-in shifts (11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) on a two-week rotation with every other weekend off. Schedules are flexible and may change with hotel demand and the season.

What you'll do

This is a hands-on, do-a-bit-of-everything role. On quiet stretches, you'll turn rooms between check-ins; on busy days, you'll work alongside a teammate to keep everything moving.

Welcome our guests

• Run the front desk on opening and afternoon check-in shifts, handling arrivals, check-outs, calls, and walk-ins
• Answer questions, solve problems, and share your favorite local spots
• Help guests use our prepaid, contactless check-in system
• Set up and restock our morning breakfast of pastries, bagels, and coffee

Keep the property guest-ready

• Clean and turn over guest rooms and the 5-bedroom rental apartment (coming soon) to a high standard
• Run laundry on our commercial machines
• Keep the lobby, breakfast area, walkways, and outdoor spaces clean and inviting
• Restock amenities and flag maintenance issues before guests notice them

Lead the team

• Train and support our part-time team members on room standards and front desk routines
• Be the on-site point of contact for our management team
• Share ideas on what's working and what could be better as we grow

Who we're looking for

• Experience in hotel housekeeping, front desk, or another guest-facing job (1 year or more preferred)
• Someone who notices the little things and takes real pride in a clean, cozy room
• Warm, friendly, and calm when things get busy
• Reliable, comfortable working on your own, and open to a schedule that shifts with the season
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for long periods, and handle the physical side of housekeeping
• Comfortable with basic technology like a reservation system, tablet, or phone apps
• Lives within commuting distance of Schroon Lake and has reliable transportation
• Leadership or training experience is a big plus, but we'll help you grow into it
• Flexible and easygoing about change, since the property and our routines will evolve as renovations get underway
