This role supports the design and development of seasonal apparel collections focused on collaborations, licensed product, and third-party vendor programs.

Our retail client is looking for an Apparel Designer for a hybrid freelance assignment in New York from 05/26/2026 through 08/19/2026.
This role supports the design and development of seasonal apparel collections focused on collaborations, licensed product, and third-party vendor programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support seasonal apparel collection development
- Create sketches, flats, and technical packages in Adobe Illustrator
- Build mood boards, concept decks, and trend presentations
- Research trends, color direction, fabrics, and silhouette ideas
- Maintain tech packs, BOMs, and PLM updates
- Coordinate samples, lab dips, and approvals
- Attend fit sessions and track revisions
- Partner with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, and Sourcing teams
- Support vendor communication and product development timelines
- Assist with presentations, line reviews, and seasonal launches
- 1–3 years of apparel design or product development experience
- Experience with collaborations, licensed product, or vendor programs preferred
- Strong Illustrator sketching and technical flat skills
- Experience creating tech packs and supporting product development
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; PLM experience preferred
- Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and fit
- Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Vizcom is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred
