Tire Technician responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing, and replacing tires on a variety of vehicles. This role balances technical automotive skills with customer service, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tire Service & Maintenance: Inspect, balance, rotate, repair, and replace tires on passenger vehicles, light trucks, and commercial vehicles (if applicable).
  • Diagnostics & Inspection: Assess tire wear patterns, check TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems), evaluate tread depth, and identify underlying alignment or suspension issues to report to the service advisor.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate specialized shop equipment, including tire changers, wheel balancers, hydraulic lifts, jacks, and pneumatic hand tools.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to shop safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and correct torque specifications when installing wheels.
  • Customer Service: Explain tire conditions, recommendations, and maintenance timelines clearly to customers or service advisors.
  • Shop Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace; properly dispose of scrap tires and automotive fluids.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in tire service or a general automotive maintenance role is highly preferred (entry-level roles may accept on-the-job training).
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with TPMS sensors, tire sizing, load ratings, and speed ratings.
  • Licensing: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required to move customer vehicles in and out of service bays).
  • Certifications: TIA (Tire Industry Association) certification or ASE certification is a strong plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver objects weighing up to 50–75 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and crouch for extended periods during an 8-to-10 hour shift.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperature conditions (shop environments can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter).

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
