Summary
Primarily responsible for ensuring that products conform to specifications.

Position Responsibilities

• Conduct first piece and in-process inspection, final inspection, and testing on a variety of parts and products to consistently ensure compliance with pre-established customer specifications and quality standards.
• Perform assigned inspection and testing activities consistent with Quality policies, procedures, and standards.
• Perform standard surface plate and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection.
• Create and maintain inspection plans.
• Use precision measuring instruments and make, or assist in making, precision inspection set-ups.
• Conduct, or assist in conducting, random audits during operations to ensure machined parts comply with process and final drawing specifications.
• Train new employees on equipment use and inspection procedures.
• Perform receiving inspection and testing of vendor parts, services, and materials as required.
• Assist in reviewing the calibration status of inspection equipment and ISO Standards, and report problems as appropriate.
• Review inspection equipment and methods utilized by manufacturing personnel; offer assistance and recommendations as needed.
• Update and maintain daily inspection logs in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.
• Work safely and comply with all established safety rules and work practices.
• Comply with Company, Department, and quality policies and procedures as applicable.
• Keep the Quality Supervisor informed of job-related problems and other relevant work activity information.
• Maintain a positive work attitude and promote a team approach throughout the Department.
• Perform related work as apparent or assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience

• High school education or equivalent, plus at least 1 year of appropriate technical training including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• At least 2 years of first piece and in-process mechanical inspection experience in a close-tolerance machining job shop environment preferred.
• Ability to utilize manufacturing software systems; computer proficiency and experience desired.
• Knowledge of and experience with surface plate inspection, small tool mechanical measurements, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
• Working knowledge of ISO standards.
• Ability to work from blueprints, inspection specifications, and written or verbal instructions.
