Crew Member (Event Coordination)

Duration: 3 Months (possibility of extension)

Note:

Candidate must be able to work weekends, with minimal notice, depending on event schedule. Weekends may be required approx. 2 times per month, flex time during the week will be permitted as needed when weekends are required.

Position Overview

Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and configuring 33 conference rooms and the Statehouse for meetings and events. This hands-on role manages specialized audio/visual (AV) technology, furniture arrangements, and space presentation, while serving as a peer leader and supporting Project Search interns.

Key Responsibilities

• AV & Technology Support: Set up, operate, and troubleshoot complex AV systems—including sound mixers, microphones, speakers, live-streaming equipment, and displays—ensuring seamless functionality for state and customer equipment.
• Event Setup & Logistics: Review event reservation forms, plan timelines, and arrange furniture, equipment, and seating configurations for conference rooms and the Statehouse.
• Facility Upkeep & Presentation: Maintain clean, presentable spaces by vacuuming, dusting, removing trash, clearing catering debris, and using commercial floor scrubbers as needed.
• Troubleshooting & Adaptability: Rapidly diagnose equipment failures or shifting event schedules on short notice, applying creative problem-solving under tight deadlines.
• Leadership & Training: Guide new staff, act as a group leader in the supervisor’s absence, and support/supervise Project Search interns on daily tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Technical Know-How: Practical experience with AV/sound setups, cabling, and commercial-grade cleaning or maintenance equipment.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including constant standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting/pushing furniture and equipment using flatbed carts.
• Communication & Service: Outstanding interpersonal skills to interact professionally with state officials, agency staff, and the public.
• Flexibility: Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to schedule changes. Must be available to work event-based weekend shifts with short notice.

Work Environment

Indoor, climate-controlled setting involving constant physical activity (no sedentary work) with occasional outdoor tasks.
