Job Description: Optometric Technician

Sample Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and gather detailed and accurate medical and ocular history
• Assist the optometrist during eye exams and ensure each patient visit runs smoothly
• Perform pre-testing procedures such as visual acuity, auto-refraction, and eye pressure tests
• Maintain clean and organized exam rooms and ensure equipment is in working order
• Manage patient records and input data into our electronic medical record system with accuracy and confidentiality
• Order and track contact lens inventory to ensure timely fulfillment
• Help support the flow of the office and provide backup for team members as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on compassionate and respectful care
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to manage time and multitask in a busy clinical setting
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new technologies or procedures—growth mindset encouraged!
• Comfort working with electronic medical records and basic office software
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times
• A team-first attitude with a genuine desire to help others

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting is helpful, but not required
• A strong sense of integrity and honesty in every interaction
• Someone who is proactive, dependable, and ready to grow within our team
• A calm, caring approach to working with patients and colleagues alike

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience: None required—we’ll train the right person!

Location: Bozeman, MT

Compensation: $19.00-$21.25/hour
